What You'll Do
You will operate a commercial motor vehicle on trips lasting between twelve and eighteen days to deliver and pick up containers and trailers at various warehouse and customer locations within an established territory. You will be responsible for processing delivery paperwork, maintaining Department of Transportation vehicle logs, conducting daily equipment inspections, and performing additional driving or warehouse-related duties as required.
Essential Functions:
- Deliver and pick up containers and trailers at designated warehouse and customer locations and assist with unloading or reloading as needed.
- Report any discrepancies or issues encountered during deliveries or pickups to the appropriate individuals immediately.
- Serve as the point of contact for product acceptance and delivery issues by processing paperwork such as purchase orders, invoices, accounts receivables, fuel receipts, dispatch sheets, bills of lading, unloading receipts, trucking logs, and shipping schedules.
- Create, process, and track invoices and billing as needed for deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain Department of Transportation vehicle logs and other required company documents for vehicle operation.
- Perform daily equipment and vehicle inspections and relay necessary information between ports of entry and warehouses.
- Carry out other driving and warehouse-related duties as required or requested.
- Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.
What Experience and Education You Need
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience required.
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Current and valid Commercial Driving License (CDL) "A" classification required.
- No more than one moving violation citation such as reckless driving or speeding in excess of fifteen miles above the posted speed limit within the previous twelve months and no more than three within the previous three years.
- No DUI citations and no more than three serious motor vehicle violation citations or accidents within the previous three years.
What Could Set You Apart
- Successful completion of Department of Transportation (DOT) background screen, pre-employment drug test, and other required physical and medical examinations.
- Experience in negotiating and instructing in a logistics or transportation environment.
- Ability to work independently and proactively without direct supervision.
- Effective verbal and written communication sufficient to read and interpret road maps and road signs and partner with customers and co-workers.
- Experience resolving delivery or routing issues in a dynamic logistics environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Manual dexterity and coordination of two or more limbs with normal movements while sitting, standing, or lying down.
- Ability to lift, carry, position, or move objects weighing up to fifty pounds.
Physical Requirements
- Depending on specific role, requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, getting up and down from chairs, reaching, and/or bending.
- Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work, including the operation of computers, telephones, and similar equipment.
- Requires ability to comprehend and communicate with others, verbally and/or in writing.
- Depending on specific role, may require frequent or occasional exposure to temperatures at or below freezing.
- Depending on specific role, may require ability to mount and dismount material handling equipment and ability to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment.
- Depending on specific role, may require ability to tolerate heights up to 30 ft. (9 meters) and ability to access elevated products from inside safety cage.
- Requires ability to wear personal protective equipment required for assigned tasks, including working in cold temperatures.
- May require travel by automobile and airplane for business.
- Depending on specific role, ability to lift, carry, position and/or move objects up to 60 lbs. (27 kg) frequently or occasionally.
