What you’ll Do
For the overall accountability for transportation business profitability and oversight of day-to-day operations, including but not limited to dispatch operations, customer service, route guide compliance, day-to-day financial reviews and approvals, and overall day-to-day transportation operations. Manage Americold-owned assets and inventory within assigned responsibility. Lead future development and management of program strategies for all facets of the fleet. Provide budgetary strategies and accountability reporting for all aspects of fleet operation.
Essential Functions:

•    Lead the development and enforcement of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance frameworks to ensure all transport activities meet legislative and safety obligations.
•    Oversee the design and execution of a robust Carrier Partner Audit Program to assess performance, safety, and compliance standards.
•    Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners, ensuring alignment with service expectations, safety protocols, and operational efficiency.
•    Ensure full compliance with customer audit requirements by maintaining rigorous documentation, process integrity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Drive the strategic implementation and optimisation of the Transport Management System (TMS) to enhance visibility, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
•    Identify and capitalise on opportunities to expand transport capabilities and services, contributing to overall business growth and customer satisfaction.
•    Ensure daily transportation operations’ SOPs are adhered to and corrective action plans are in place to improve deficiencies.
•    Lead the strategic and operational management of the company’s own fleet, ensuring optimal utilisation, maintenance compliance, cost efficiency, and alignment with cold chain standards.
•    Work closely with warehouse operations, business development, and other Americold teams to manage daily operating plan, plan for future shipment activity, and to identify and implement innovative Transportation Operations solutions that accelerate results and help achieve business goals.
•    P&L management and ongoing evaluation of customer, lane, and modal profitability.
•    Budgetary responsibilities include monthly and quarterly reporting, development of future budgets for all fleet services, including leases, rentals, and maintenance services.
•    Carrier capacity planning/management to meet peak and off-peak periods.
•    Identification and implementation of transportation synergies for facilities within assigned responsibility.
•    Dedicated fleet management and oversight.
•    Oversight of operations, procurement, contract management, maintenance, repairs, etc. of all assigned Americold assets.
•    Ongoing interaction other internal transportation regions and identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.
•    Identification and implementation of shuttle and national LTL opportunities.

•    Partner with human resources, operations, and recruiting teams to ensure open positions are filled based on business growth, workforce planning, analytics, and diversity objectives, to manage, develop, and appraise team members, and to build a strong talent bench through effect talent review and succession planning processes.
•    Provide managers with tools and training to optimize their performance.
•    Conduct regular reviews at the location level to ensure internal and vendor compliance with all company standards, goals, and policies, as well as all Federal, state and local OSHA, wage and hour, employment, and other applicable regulations.
•    Other duties as requested.

What Experience and Education You Need

•    6-10 years’ experience in the management of transportation operations within the Australia and or New Zealand network.
•    Related transportation industry experiences, including logistics, account management, distribution, warehousing, CPG, etc. an understanding on common business practices and standards
•    Strong customer relations experience
•    five (5) years of experience in managing a team of direct reports
•    Certifications in Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR compliance, or relevant transport safety standards.
•    Proficiency in Transport Management Systems (TMS) and logistics software.

What Could Set You Apart

•    Bachelor's degree in business or transportation and/or equivalent combination of experience and training.
•    Knowledge of cold chain logistics, temperature-controlled transport, and food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP)

•    Requires the ability to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: must partner with colleagues without exhibiting behavioral extremes
•    Requires the performance of work activities including reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from executive management
